Recorded at night in a monastery chapel, Arturo Delmonis compelling solo performances combine thrilling technique with thought-provoking musical insights. One of the most artistically significant solo violin recordings. Because Delmoni learned the Ysaÿe sonata from Josef Gingold, who himself was Ysaÿes last student, Delmonis performance has a wealth of interpretive detail that qualifies it as a historical document.. Stunning sound.

Track 1: Son, Op. 27, No. 2 'Obsession': Obsession
Track 2: Son, Op. 27, No. 2 'Obsession': Malinconia
Track 3: Son, Op. 27, No. 2 'Obsession': Danse des Ombres
Track 4: Son, Op. 27, No. 2 'Obsession': Les Fluries
Track 5: Recitativo and Scherzo, Op. 6: Recitative

These performances are so warm and wonderful and personal that they are also controversially unorthodox. Delmoni is possessed of a romantic spirit and a gentle warmth in his playing that are almost out of place in Bach. Almost. The D minor Partita is played as though we were intruders listening in on a personal statement being made in an empty hall late at night. But it is a privilege to be there to share the moment.
Delmonis playing is masterly and authoratative, emphasizing musical qualities while sublimating the requisite virtuosity which he clearly possesses in ample measure.
Alan Heatherington, American Record Guide
[A]n account of the D minor Violin Partita possessed of not only sweetness but immense logic and clarity. The result is a classical conception whose patrician strength pays off particularly well in the concluding Chaconne, as section piles upon section in handsomely integrated fashion.
